New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse September 2015 — Back to Black...
Ok… we’re back… and it just doesn’t stop. The waves of transformation, pressure and heartbreak that have been unleashed on us since at least 2012 keep rolling in. Even if the shore is long since under water! Get your lifeboat ready or if you can, your board to surf those waves… We’re in for some ride as September’s new moon on September 13th is a partial solar eclipse which doubles its impact.
The new moon degree is 20 degrees Virgo and ruled by Mercury and Venus. Communication, values, and yes again, relationships are on the forefront of this eclipse’s agenda, as well as an emphasis on healing and finding balance.
When I get that feeling…
that need some healing
The eclipse’s major aspect is an opposition to Chiron in Pisces. Chiron is called the “Wounded Healer”. In a chart, it shows the area where we have received a deep wound to our self and our self-esteem. Chiron in Pisces is deeply connected to the collective unconscious as well, so anything triggering it resonates strongly with the hurts of the last 2000 years… the Piscean Age. This can partially explain why so many people are feeling they are drowning in some kind sorrow, loss or heartbreak that seems larger than life. It’s recommended to keep a life vest in form of good friends, and lots of self-care, handy!! Or even better, take a surfing class…
Chiron opposite sun and moon is a double whammy because it signifies wounds to both our self-esteem/ego AND the realm of emotions, family, roots and the deep psyche. The good news is, Chiron works like a midwife, he brings out those wounds in order for them to be healed, not to torture us. Even if it can surely feel that way!! This also means that we can use the time of the new moon – basically the next four weeks – to feel how wounds, neglects, deep disappointments and hurts that we received in childhood – from mother (moon) and father (sun) - influence our conscious, grown-up self and our emotional response. Use Virgo's self-discipline and sobriety to counteract any temptation to fall into a victim mentality. That’s the ugly shadow side of Piscean sensitivity... So the next month is very well suited for developing a discipline of healing, finding a good therapist, and connecting with our bodies in order to come back to the present moment and not stay addicted to old pain.
(No) more Drama in our lives...
Jupiter is in Virgo too, on the side of sun and moon, giving some much-needed protection. Jupiter is known as the cosmic benefactor, so this placement could lead us to exactly the right people and places we need for healing. The only caution here is the current opposition of Jupiter and Neptune. Both planets enlarge things, and can create a lot of drama out of nowhere. Especially when we are vulnerable because we feel hurt, there is the danger of escapism, victim- and martyr-playing. So please seek help because you want to stop something and not because you want to complain about your life and point your finger! If you do you’ll be in deep trouble indeed, as that will keep you from taking necessary steps to fix yourself. You’ll continue on the shadow side of Pisces, with Neptune and Chiron stirring up old pains for the next decade encore. Ugh! Perhaps it helps to remember that sometimes, receiving a blow can be like a wake-up call, showing weak spots that we need to give some attention in order to advance.
Sudden blows and radical readjustments
Watch out for sudden blows indeed as the new moon forms a challenging aspect to Uranus in Aries. This means unexpected surprises that can go both ways, and two very different energies that may find it hard to get along with each other. Virgo is a feminine, earthy, mentally active, selfless, service-oriented and orderly sign. Aries is masculine, fiery, ego- and action-oriented, and jumps first, thinks later. Moreover, Uranus anyway is unpredictable, radical and sometimes brutal... but it actually wants to shake us out of old routines and ways of thinking. So what will it be when the Virgin and the Revolutionary get together? Radical healing? Disciplined rebellion? Sparks that fly... or some brutal, rude wake-up calls? Expect the unexpected with this new moon. And above all STAY CALM!!!! Uranus is electric, and we're in deep water... people's nerves will be fried. Let's all try not to turn into deep fried calamari!!
Let’s Talk About Love Baby...
There is a clear emphasis on communication and relating during the next month. Mercury is sextile Venus – that’s the aspect that says, “Let’s talk about love baby”, and which facilitates communication in relationships. To hammer that point home, Mercury is in Libra, sign of relating. Any superficial tendencies of Libra will be curbed here, because at the new moon, Mercury squares Pluto. So what we have to say carries a lot of weight, and there is a danger of power games and deep hurts through words. Adding to this, we currently live the last weeks of the karmic lunar north node in Libra, too. Adding to Saturn sitting on the last degree of Scorpio, the node on the border of Libra gives a feeling of things ending for good, of a last chance to change what needs to be changed. Sometimes you will need to bury something. Big time Karma alert... which is further supported by a Mercury retrograde in Libra on the heels of the new moon!! Yeah, I know, enough already...
Mercury goes retrograde on September 17th. The messenger planet's backwards journey will lead from the middle of the sign Libra to 0 degrees of that sign. 0 Degrees Libra – you can’t get more symbolic than that. It's about balancing give and take, masculine and feminine, logic and intuition in ourselves and with others. I think most people will experience something that feels like fated or really important in the area of relationships during the next weeks. Mercury will go direct on October 9th for his third tour of Libra, starting at 0 degrees. That gives us another, last shot at clearing matters in our way of relating in love and business relationships. A sextile from Saturn to that point means that some people who’ve done their homework might suddently find themselves in stable, mature, and sweet relationships come October or even before. If that’s not you, don’t despair. There will be possibilities for progress for everyone who’s willing.
Hearts breaking open
There is another super important astrological marker in the wake of Saturday’s new moon. Magically, the day that Mercury turns retrograde, September 17th, Saturn leaves Scorpio for good. This puts an end to a two and a half year period of heavy duty trials, hardships and heart/hard breaks that have tested everyone since the fall of 2012. We are currently living through the very last days of Saturn in Scorpio, not to return for 28 years. The last degree of Scorpio can be the deepest emotional hell, as it scrapes the bottom of our souls. But eventually, it can bring deep healing, too. Don’t waste this magical time. Use the opportunities for healing highlighted by the new moon on September 13th. Saturn can be the black sun that cleans out old, even ancient, crusts on our hearts, to prepare us for better times to come. The night is always darkest just before the dawn… These are special times. Open your heart and if it's breaking, let it break open!
