New Moon November 11th, 2015 – Tipping Point
Every new moon is the chance to reinvent ourselves, to use the powerful jumpstart of the conjunction of our two lights, sun and moon, to set new intentions and leave old stories behind. This is much more true for the yearly new moon in Scorpio, the time when the veil between worlds is thin… when we get ready to leave the year behind, enter the dark season and prepare for the next, brand-new spring.
Today's new moon is the friendliest of the year, and it promises rewards if we tune into stillness and dare to go to the depths, to the dark, and shed old skins. It's still a part of the major choices, crossings, and new alliances on the horizon that have happened in this crazy year.
Happy and Lucky
The new moon at 19 degrees of Scorpio has some really fantastic aspects – above all, a lucky aspect to Jupiter and Scorpio’s ruler Pluto, which adds an extra dimension of protection, luck, depth and power to any new beginnings in the next few weeks. The moon is also in conjunction with Mercury. It seems we will get relevant information, opportunities for growth, and the necessary confidence or backup by people in power to implement our plans. As all this is happening in Scorpio, the messages received could come from people we're associated with, or from the depth of our soul! Either way, it'll be worthwhile listening.
There are two fixed stars that are important for this moon, too. Whenever the sun or moon fall on fixed stars, their nature deepens and even changes the information we’d receive if we only considered the signs. From the perspective of the fixed stars, 19 degrees Scorpio is part of constellation Libra, actually, one of Libra’s scales. The Scales symbolize balance, justice, and duality. Therefore one of the scales is traditionally considered lucky, the other unlucky... Sun and moon meet at the lucky scale, in Arabic, “the full price” – something where justice was done, or we did all that is necessary, gave our all, and should receive a reward. We could all experience some sort of personal or collective tipping point to the bright side in the next 4 weeks.
Did you give enough?
The other scale, “the insufficient price”, is located at 15 Scorpio. It’s unlucky, a reminder of shortcomings and justice not done. Remarkably, that’s the exact position of messenger planet Mercury at the time of the new moon. Mercury is the messenger of the gods, and the higher self, if you like. We might be asked to take a good long look at any untidy corners of our conscience. Is there a debt we still didn’t pay, monetary or other? Did we give someone the short end of the stick, or didn’t do our work somewhere? Did we suffer injustice, or inflict it on others?
Sometimes all we need is to acknowledge foul play, either to heal from the damage done to us or to take responsibility for damaging someone else. Expect some revelations, insights or messages concerning these topics. What we learn could be shocking in some cases, and could involve joint resources, taxes/money, or intimate or taboo information. Mercury is in sex, lies, and videotape sign Scorpio after all… But I think the fortune will outweigh the misfortune because this new moon has just so many lucky aspects. Especially given that both scales are in positive aspect to Jupiter who is associated with Justice, too. It sounds to me like wrongs will be righted and even setbacks will give us ample opportunities to learn and empower ourselves.
Break on through to the other side!!
This new moon could bring a turning point in many things. It actually forms on of the most outstanding aspects in astrology, a yod. Yods are called “Finger of God”, and they draw attention to the planet they point towards. In this case, sun/moon and Jupiter pointa finger at Uranus. Yods ask for adjustment and re-balancing of the planets involved. How fitting to the subject of Balance and Justice! Sometimes this adjustment has a karmic feel to it – a feeling of inevitability, of being propelled towards destiny… With Uranus in Aries, we NEED to express our individuality and our need of freedom and justice. Society is in dire need for people to stand up, stand out, and Shine!! The challenge set by the new moon is to do so without upsetting the balance (the Scales) too much – without creating drama and bitter conflict (Sun/moon and Mercury in Scorpio) – and without being pedantic or over-inflated in our proceedings (Jupiter in Virgo).
Change of Dharma
Extraordinarily enough, on the day of the new moon, the lunar nodes are changing signs! After one and a half years in beauty, relationship and harmony oriented Libra, the north node regresses into Virgo. So this new moon's energy is at a tipping point, indeed. The position of the north node by sign indicates a kind of collective direction for growth, dharma if you like. This new moon starts an 18 month period in which we are called on to embody Virgo qualities, to be disciplined, to be diligent, take care of our health, and change detrimental habits.
On a different note, we are asked to tend our holy flame, to be of service to others, and to honor female energy and creative power. Sometimes in this mundane world we forget that Virgo, the zodiac’s only female sign, is also a face of the Great Mother... Make this new moon your personal start to honor and nourish the feminine part of you, whether you’re a man or a woman. This is one more expression of this moon's topic of the scales needing to be carefully weighed out, leaving noone cheated of their natural rights.
Love going strong
Actually, bothe relationship planets will spend the next month in Venus' home sign Libra- the Scales..! Just as the North node regresses from Libra into Virgo, Venus and Mars are jointly entering the sign of love and harmony. Venus is at ease in Libra and even stronger through a backup by Saturn in Sagittarius. Mars is sitting on the very last degree of Virgo, on the heels of his lover, ready to cross over to Libra and forming a tight conjunction to the North node as well. If action-and-aggression planet Mars is in Venus' sign, he either adepts or heralds conflicts and aggression in relationships, especially between men and women.
The topic of healing in relationships continues into the next months. While in Libra, Venus, Mars, and the North node will form conflicting aspects with Uranus, Neptune and Chiron. This indicates the ongoing need for healing wounds to our female or male pride and self, and to our capacity for deep love and intimacy. This moon forms a positive aspect to Chiron, the wounded healer. This supports an opening of wounds to clean them, so they can finally close.
